Do any of you have information on the French maker Demon Petrik?

The gun in question is a O/U with a very unique action. There is a sliding cover/latch like a K 80 or Remington 3200 but I was told this gun preceded the 3200.

Any information would be appreciated.

Al

The only one I ever saw and got to hold was a very nice and very, very, light 20 bore. The story about the hooded latch is quite interesting. Demon Petrick invented it, and Remington took it (big American industry verses small foreign maker, with a predictable outcome). Remington even had the gall to sell the idea to Krieghoff!

Thank you all.

I will post some pictures in the near future. In discussion with Geoffroy Gournet he said the one I have is the highest grade he has encountered. There is no name I can find but it is 100% engraved. The Petrik mark is on the barrels with dual French proofs.

Thanks again all.

Actually, Petrik invented it.
Others copied it.
Remington successfully used it in the Model 32; not as successfully in the 3200.
Remington gave the design of the entire 32 to Europa Corporation, who contracted with Krieghoff to resume production of the 32. The rest is history.....

APS,
A deceased friend of mine owned two guns which from the information provided I am now convinced were made by,Demon Petrick. One of these guns is pictured on page 74 of the," Gun Book,"by Gough Thomas,[G.T.Garwood] published by Winchester Press in 1970.
