Re-stock, or a re-done stock?

Very nice work. I believe it is a restock, the checkering pattern is more of a Fulton gun than a Syracuse gun. Quality 3's Syracuse guns usually had a dog on the trigger guard, and I cannot see this one.
Still very nice to see a hundred and twenty something year old gun brought back.

There looks to be a size able gap on the right rear portion of the forend to barrel fit, left side not so obvious, but still there. Trigger guard tang looks a hair proud as well. Could just be the lighting or angle of the pics though. Case colors and damascus finishes look very nice.

Nice gun, Mark. Glad you shared. Say hi to your dad for me. Tell Dan May well done.

Gentlemen,

I was incorrect! Dan May and Ken Waite III restored this LC Smith.

Mark,

Thanks for showing and for the very kind words! Correction though, this is a RESTORATION of the original wood, hence the minor gaps in inletting and forend to barrel fit. This was absolutely the original stock set, serial numbered to the gun. It was in very poor condition and severely broken when we received it. The checkering is very fine, 27 - 28 lpi and borderless. Syracuse made guns are a joy, they really put the extra time and care in them.

Best regards, Dan

Great barrels too. Classy gun. Restocks often seem to have too much figure for grade. Sounds like a true "rescue" here.
