I went to look at a gun yesterday marked Inman & Hayhurst, Sheffield. It was a sidelock non-ejector with damascus barrels proofed around 1896 to 1904 but later re-proofed for nitro. I didn't purchase it but was intrigued by the name. I can find nothing. I wondered if anyone with access to Internetgunclub could see if anything is listed please? Just curious. Thanks. Lagopus....

Lagopus
IGC shows three Inman's, in B'ham, Leeds and Bristol.
No Hayhurst's at all.
Nothing similar on a search of Sheffield either.
Perhaps they were ironmongers?

Sorry Pete I tried putting the web page in but it just keeps coming up that it can't be displayed.
I doubt they were Gunmakers Tim. Just curious to find anything. The usual Sheffield stuff are Turner, Maleham and Roper. One thing with the gun was that the name was on the rib but there was a vacant banner on the lock plates. It will be a trade gun of some sort. Lagopus.....
