I would return for refund, and slow down, take your time and find a "new" used gun. It will take months to get your new Uggie and you'll loose money on it in the end. Find a nice used gun and take care of it and sell it later at same or more. It isn't rocket science, there are alot of honest dealers and it is much more fun to find a deal than to be taken....Good luck

Ask for the gun back and sell it to "Improved Modified". He loves them.

I had a bad experience with a new Uggie. I won't mention the dealer cause he has to make a living like the rest of us and I'm sure most are fine with his product and service. Occasionally a Spanish gun gets slapped together and doesn't get the quality inspection it should before it leaves the factory. You probably got one of those guns. I know I did and I returned it immediately and ask for a refund. That's exactly what you should do as others have suggested.

I'm comfortable buying used with a return guarantee. Hill Rod and Gun and Thad Scott both offer this. Look for a Brit or a German BLNE gun built between the wars. All you have to do is look at how the barrels are struck on a new Spanish gun and one of the older guns in the same price range. That quality, or lack of, goes all the way through the gun. That goes for the wood also. New is not always better.

I appreciate the advice you all have given me.

I am now looking at a used Grulla 209. The price seems too good to be true, so I am a little hesitant. I have not determined when it was made, but it does not look like current 209's - much less engraving.

Any opinions on these? What should I expect to pay for one in good condition?

How can I tell when it was manufactured? Any manufacturing time frames I should be cautious of?

Finally, any problems/issues I should look for?

Thanks again.

Newlyn,

I have a Dakin Arms(Union Armera-Grulla) 215 in 12 ga. I bought the gun at a small town gun show and it was near new. The gun is 60's vintage. The fit and finish is top notch but the wood is pretty plain and light colored. I have probably shot a couple of flats through it with no problems. The gun is equipped with a single trigger that some find a little heavy. I believe the gun compares favorably with the current production guns....at less than half the cost.

Regards,
Ken
