I have a Mauser 66 in caliber 8X68S, which came with an extra barrel in 7X66 SE vom Hofe. However, the 7mm barrel will not mate up with the action. It appears to be a simple question of relieving the barrel channel to accept the very slightly larger recoil lug, but I would prefer to have someone who knows what he is doing perform the job. Can anyone make a suggestion as to who that might be?

Xausa, you have a top quality rifle, it was my first rifle in 1968. Xausa, I try to expleen, you could change barrels in different kalibers when you stay in the same group of kalibers.
There are initially 3 groups the first with "stossboden" 12,2 follow by the group with "stossboden 13,1 and the thirth group 13,58. Now your 7,6 X 66 Vom hofe just not fit one of these groups. Marc.

Thanks for your concern.

I don't know where you get your information, but according to my DEVA loading manual, both the 7X66 SE vom Hofe and the 8X68S have the same size rim: 13.00mm.

The barrel came with the rifle, but I can't see how it was ever used. The problem is not in the metal parts but in the stock.

Well Xausa, you are correct I have the manuels from the Mod 66 in my archives and indeed the 7,6 vom Hofe have the same rim or "stossboden" as the 8 X 68.
Sorry my mistake I diden't control it before I send my reply.
Marc.

Xausa,
Do you have 7x66vH cases? I have some, and need 7x75R vH, 8x68, and or 9.3x64.

I have some 7X66 SE vom Hofe cases, but I suppose I could use more. I have quite a few 8X68S cases. I have a Krieghoff BBF in 16/7X75R vom Hofe and supposedly some cases on the way from Germany. I'll check and get back with you.
