16ga. inserts for a 12ga. I like my doubles with some weight to them and was wondering if anyone makes 16ga inserts.

I don't know how much weight you want to add to the gun. But adding 16ga inserts won't add much while complicating shell availability quite a bit. Get some of the lead stick-on tape the golfers use to add weight to the back of clubs and put it under your forend. Should be able to add quite a bit of weight cheap and easy. Further you could position it along the underside of the barrel to determine where you need it for your tastes. Before you put it on be sure you know what solvent takes it off.

Are you talking about full length tubes? If so, Briley probably could make them. If you're talking about the shorties I'm with Jerry's comments. Full length tubes make the guns very front heavy and the sorties won't add enough to be worth the bother of using 16 ga. shells. You could add 4-8 oz. of lead to the butt, using a cast slug of lead. No one will make a full length tube for 16 in a 12. They are too thin. You can get chamber inserts for a 12/16 but why?
They work fine but why do you want them? You are going from the 12 with the most wide range of shot size, weight and powder selection to one of the least varied shell selections. Sad to say that you can duplicate anything the 16 does by loading down a 12 and selection is very good and prices are mostly cheaper. So no new loads, no reduced prices and no real pattern advantage. Might be a fun fall back if your back up gun to your 16 is a 12 and you only want to carry one type of shells. But beyond that 12/16 chambermates are about as useful as tits on a b...... . Well you know.

I assume that katlenjessie's comment about weight is simply that a 12-gauge gun weighs more than a 16, and a 12 firing 16-gauge shells will absorb more recoil. TT

A related idea came up at the Vintage Cup event where we had on our stand a 12g hammergun which we had sleeved down to 16g - it was a very light action, possibly a 16g action, but originally barreled to 12g. A serious clay shot who likes VERY heavy barrels was interested in having a good quality 12g gun (albeit with scrap barrels) sleeved down to 16g but with all the wall thickness left on. This would have given him a very heavy 16g with the barrel length, chokes and chambers of his choice but yet a classic 'antique' gun at his end! The price would also have been extreamily competitive when compared with a bespoke gun made to his unusual specification.

Gentlemen Thank you for your input one and all. I have to agree with Two Triggers. I am wanting more forward barrel weight for SC shooting.I have a T. and H. King boxlock with 30 barrels that weighs 8 1/4 lbs. I shoot this gun better than any of my other doubles. I think the King was a duck gun as it has original 2 3/4 chambers 1 1/4 oz of shot and heavy barrels.
I have addes some weight to the stock of my SKB with 30 inch barrels and was just wanting more forward weight.
