My buddy was trying to refinish his Pedersoli double barrel but has a few questions. He stripped the old finish off with Citristrip but there seems to me anyway that some of the old stain still remains in the wood. How do you get rid of the old stain completely? Another application of Citristrip or use something else?

Possibly, now that the finish is stripped off, he could soak it overnight in acetone (see thread from a few days ago posted by Jerry V Lape http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=341418#Post341418). Acetone will soak blackened oil out of the wood, it should soak out stain as well.
