Have wrapped barrels with paper/bubble wrap placed in PVC or hard plastics tube shipped inside of a FX/ UPS/ USPS triangle to Dale and others many times without a problem. As noted above, a bit more expensive but the peace of mind was well worth it. Signature required also to avoid " left by front door."

Seems that with the PVC caps screwed on, there wouldn't even be reason to put it inside of a box. Much like shipping a Pelican case, just slap the fedex form on the tube and off it goes. I think next time I'm in Lowes I'll pick up the proper stuff to put one together.

You are a trusting soul, anyone can unscrew the cap. Best to put it into the free 36" triangle box.

we ship sooooo much stuff that costs sooooo much more than a set of barrels. Never had an issue. You can cut the tape on a box just as easily. I'd tape the caps to insure they'd unscrew though.

I agree with shanebevel and others. Plastic tube with taped screw on caps works great. They may be heavy, but you have piece of mind.

A little misunderstanding, use the PVC pipe but put it in the box. Just one more level of security.

Tube inside a box will keep it from rolling off of things in transit.

Those triangle boxes are handi. I shipped a Savage Model 20 broke down to a guy in one. I double walled it and it worked perfect.

Tube inside a box will keep it from rolling off of things in transit. Let me second this, never ever ship anything that can roll. I remember a friend's .28-caliber barrel that he waited years for was shipped in heavy duty round tube. It was bent so bad you could not see daylight through it.

I agree with using pvc/abs pipe. You can make your own box or use the Priority box. I think you save on the Priority box. On a related subject, I started shipping my guns out for service using an inexpensive aluminum gun case from Ziegel Engineering, in its original cardboard box. I feel pretty comfortable they are as protected as I can make them. Wonko turned me on to them. Ziegel is minutes away from my work in Long Beach CA. http://www.ziegeleng.com/pg5.htm
