Adding my support for Charles Lee. If you have, or can borrow, a copy of the Donald Dallas book on David McKay Brown, there are excellent photographs of Lee's work. There's also a list, by serial number, of the 40+ guns that Charles has done for Brown.

Why not speak with Ken Whitehurst, from the friendly little ol' town of Robersonville right down here in the Tar Heel State? He's a fine engraver and most accomodating southern gentleman.

I recommend going to an original source of high-grade Brownings: Mr, Angelo Bee. A Master Engraver for many years at the FN/Browning factory in Belgium, he now lives in southern California. Angelo did a 28 ga Superposed for me that's absolutely gorgeous. I saw him and a dozen of his Brownings at the Las Vegas gun show last weekend, and his work is as beautiful as ever. If you google his name, you'll find many photos of his engraving on the Internet. Angelo's email address is abengraver@aol.com, and his phone is 818-882-1567. He's very friendly, a real gentleman, and he'll happily tailor his work to a client's wishes and budget. Good luck with your exciting project! -Bob Mills

I second that.
I have a superposed (B25 B2) made in 1975 and engraved by Angelo Bee's sister Rosa, who worked at FN in Belgium at that time together with Angelo.

The A-1 Grade canvas is a great one. Our US Brownings are so without character. The receiver shape is just not as nice as the A-1.

I want to thank everyone who has made a recommendation for my project. Looking at the work done by some of these engravers leaves me speechless.

Bill,

I don't know what that man's credentials are but anyone who has viewed the work of the engravers in American Engravers-The 21st Century can easily refute his assertions about the skill of America's top engravers.

Ditto Roger's comments. I do not know overseas pricing but the cost of getting a firearm back and forth for engraving can be costly in itself. Not to mention today's paperwork!

I would like to second the vote for Angelo Bee. Hard to find a better engrave or nicer guy. Larry
