Art hit it on the head, I was discussing this rifle with a friend and he put it better than I can, "You see, Michael may be gone but he taught us well, didn't he? Here we are discussing a rifle who's unknown maker was dubbed the "S Man" by MP, which would have gone un-noticed had we not been educated in how to recognize the creme-de-la-creme of pre-war custom builders. Therein lies his legacy."

Well said Gary. I'd like to think Michael is having coffee with S-man, Chicago guy, Korthbrath and Niedner. Shelhamer and Barney Worthen will be along in a minute...

I'm wondering if somewhere Kornbrath's records have survived detailing his customer's orders. Art

The torch has been passed. We need to carry on what Michael started. Learning the identity of the 'unknowns' will only happen if someone thinks "outside the box" and approaches it from a different angle. Kornbrath's records is an excellent example, if they exist. It may well take all of us working in harmony to accomplish what Michael did single-handedly with determination and imagination.

I believe there was discussion about Kornbrath's records (or lack thereof) in the past. If I recall correctly they were either missing or unavailable.
