Is there any way to tell if the triggers on a old Browning superposed is a double-single trigger without firing the gun?

Nope, short of removing the stock. Like the later single inertia trigger guns, you can test by dry firing one trigger, then tapping the stock on the ground firmly to simulate recoil, and pulling the same trigger again. The inertia mechanism in the twin single trigger can be unreliable so if the gun is suspected to have twin single triggers but will not fire with this test, do not give up on it without removing the stock.

I heard a lot of the twin single triggers were converted by Browning when returned for service. A lot like Fox guns had their chambers altered in the 50's and 60's if returned to the factory so all were 2 3/4" . Perhaps Browning had a lot of issues with the triggers or they worried about safety and the chance someone would pull the trigger twice and not know it would discharge the second barrel.

Just fire the gun. If I were to remove the stock, I wouldn't know what the hell I was looking at.

I once wrote that using that safety selector, changing barrels on the up swing was so difficult on a Super that only a 3 card monte dealer could pull it off. I guy wrote me he thought switching Super barrels on the up swing was a piece of cake, but that his grandfather had taught him to deal 3 card monte as a kid.

I have two Spanish O/U's (Laurona's) with double single triggers and I can't believe they are not more popular. A simple rap on the butt resets them when dryfiring.

Very few single selective triggers are really selective in the heat of action. Double triggers are the most reliable selective system there is.
