Anyone have any comments or own the rather new AYA Bournbrook model, particularly in 28 gauge?

It is my understanding that there has been a shake-up of the leadership at AyA. Starting March 1 of this year, prices have spiked up from 30 to 40%. Ongoing production of Bournbrook guns seems unlikely at this point, as their new pricepoint will be more than most folks would be willing to pay. All AyA models will be affected, with even 4/53s going up precipitously.

The Bournbrook is already quite pricey for a boxlock.

Yes, I agree, their prices have gone up a great deal, as have most makers in both the UK and Europe. I was hoping to get someone's opinion of the gun who owns one. Spanish guns do not hold their new price points and that can also be said of some Italian makes as well. I have not found a used Bournbrook on the market because it is a rather new entry in the gun market.

With this price increase, all Spanish guns just had an increase in their resale value.

The AyA prices have gone up precipitously? Today the U S dollar will only buy you what a nickel would back 40 to 50 years ago. Unless something radical happens I see no end to this trend. You'd better get used to it. The days of cheap foreign goods(China excepted currently) are long gone. Jim

So true. Anything handmade and hand-engraved isn't going to be "cheap" and it never has been. Well-made things capture human time, and that is the reason for the increased cost over machine-made or mass-produced items. The "functional art" that we all seem to be drawn too is timeless, because the human component radiates from it. This is largely why vintage guns seem so different from modern offerings, and even in the lesser versions; the human component hadn't been replaced yet.
The good news here is that these price increases haven't taken effect yet. Lots of guns are in-country at last year's prices. As to the long-term prospects of AyA, only time will tell.

Starting March 1 of this year, prices have spiked up from 30 to 40%. Are you saying the retail price for the Bournbrook model will be going up 30 to 40% over and above the current retail price of $6499+?

Come to think of it, the price of your old Sterlingworth just went up as well.
The previous Director at AyA was voted out by a block of employee/owners and other management types in November. Most of the orders they will be building-on early this year are likely to be from the previous year's pricelist. Whether the new price list is an act of desperation or a move to more accurately reflect the increasing costs of operation (or both?) is unknown, as is the market's response to it. AyA is the only big-name Spanish firm that I can think of that is still hand-building boxlocks, with the 4/53 being their "loss-leader". Most of the remaining big-name firms there only build sidelock "bests". Starting prices for those entry-level guns are nearing $10K now.
The cost of a good time just keeps going up, doesn't it?
