In answer to your query, Rock Island Auction.

We drive Volvo XC70 wagons ordered and purchased new until the junk yard.
But I don't purchase and sell with the intent of making money nor losing money.
I purchase what I want at a reasonable price for a collector grade gun and use them. After 30 years of this, I simply got tired of the Collector Market, the crap I had offered and crappy business ethics and moved to custom(bespoke) guns.
As pointed out the market has narrowed and in the case of Winchester branded Model 21's, won't be increasing very much in the future. Note, that I said "very much". there are probably 21's still be cobbled up out there by individuals and records inserted into Cody.
If you get tired of the used Model 21 market,
CSMC makes a very nice Model 21 as good if not better than the original.
I own a 'Baby' frame 28 Grand American and am in no way worried about resale.
It's simply the finest Model 21 Winchester never made!-Dick

Making money on the resale of good guns is a fact of life if you don't fall all over yourself on the purchase. The fellow who recently bought my Deluxe Trap has already made almost two grand on it in less than a month.

I'm not saying you have to take "the hit" on a Model 21 purchase yet we'll spend money on experiential things like a vacation where once the money is spent and the vacation is over, all that is left is the memories.

Isn't the purchase of a beautiful Model 21 a lot like a vacation. Amassing experiences, tons of memories yet the added benefit of acquiring a valuable asset in the bargain.

"beautiful Model 21" ...? errm, a bit of an oxymoron no ? best, Mike

Klunk wasn't much on Model 21s, but he has owned his share of ugly guns.

I agree. I like 21's & a person can use many positive adjectives in describing a 21 but IMHO "beautiful" isn't one of them.

Klunkmeister was one of our better posters. He knew a lot of information and shared it with all smart enough or dumb enough to ask. He could be direct to say the least but as a person and dealing with him one on one I found him to be very helpful. He just got tired of the Belgian Klunkers and question that seemed to pop up repeatedly. He had more knowledge than most knew or realized and that was by his choice. Some like a low profile.

He got tired of the same questions in regard to model 21s, too. "Butt Ugly" was his term for the gun, and more than a few times, he put the looks and use factor at just below that of a 311.
Not saying I totally agree, but, he had a few good points. I don't recall his profile being all that low in the years he was here.

Seems un American to not like 21's.

I've bought and sold a couple over the last 10 years. I sold a Duck for $1500 more than I paid. The price rise continues to surprise me.

I realize that a 21 is not a hand made gun, but those who rate it along the lines of a 311 don't know which end the shot comes out. Klunk was tongue in cheek when he talked of 21s and most of our posters were and are completely unaware. 99.9% of Model 21 critics have never held or shot one. 98.6% of Model 21 critics have never seen one in person. Klunk was having fun with those people and they took him seriously. Oh, well.
