Nice looking gun and great looking stock. Some complain about putting anything but the plainest looking wood on what is a working mans gun. Well I say the buyer chooses what he wants and gets it. The cost of the stock blank becomes minor compared to the cost of fitting, checkering and finishing a stock job. Those who do their own still invest many hours into a job. Almost countless hours in some of mine it seems. That gun almost begs to be carried around and used.

Not too long ago I saw a picture of a Savage Model 42 (or similar model, you know, a combination gun) restocked with some real nice walnut. I guess that kind'a falls into the same category. But hey, it's a personal choice, if that's what you want, I say go for it! Especially if the gun has sentimental value..She certainly is a beauty....
I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

That is a cut above the fine piece of lumber the Brothers P. put on my 1930-vintage, 0-frame, VH-Grade, 20-gauge --

That's a great little Trojan. A far cry from original but I'd be proud to call it mine.

This could be a great restoration with a little effort. What is the future for this gun? Is it in progress or is it for sale as is? By the way, Mr. Mouer is a good friend and knows what a good gun is all about.
