A poster on the Ruger Forum shows a small scope that is marked with the usual Weaver El Paso address and "Cub." It is mounted on a Weaver side mount on a old Remington 512 and is straight- tubed. Can't tell if it is 1" or 3/4" but it LOOKS 1" to me.
Never seen one before and Strobel's book doesn't mention it. Anybody know anything about them? Diameter, magnification, DOM, etc,?

I have one stuck in a drawer somewhere, LOL. I checked my inventory sheet and have it listed under novelty scopes with a 3/4" diameter. I didn't list the power, might not have known. IIRC, it was 2X but I wouldn't bet more than a cup of coffee on that. I looked through my stack of Gun Digests for the 50's and 60's and didn't find it listed in the ones I checked.

Thanks, Thaine. Actually it looked like just the kind of retro scope I like--straight tube, fixed low power, relatively long eye relief (for me, a scope is a "necessary evil" caused by aging....).
Wouldn't mind finding one myself, although my .22s now have 1" rings.

This is a 3/4" tube Weaver "Cub". I think it is about 2.5 power and made in El Paso around 1935. It is mounted on an old custom Winchester Model 52 made in 1924. It is a fun old rifle to shoot. Bob

GRH, thanks for the pic and the info. Looks like a very usable setup to me, if you're wanting "minute-of-tree-rat" accuracy!
