I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but any suggestions on separate firearms insurance? My homeowner's policy has some limitations and I'm trying to decide if it's better to try to up that coverage or to look into some sort of separate specialty policy. Thanks...

I don't like the arithmetic. At the listed premium rate, they could have a total loss, not a partial loss, on one of eighty policies, EVERY year, and still break even. If you had eighty guns, and threw one over the bridge, EVERY year, they would still break even. Yup, don't like the arithmetic.

I have a policy with corevens. Reasonable prices. I had a claim once, a gun misplaced in shipping from a gunsmith. Let me tell you, they investigated it thoroughly. A couple months later, the gun showed up, so they didn't have to pay on the claim.

I did some checking and they appear to have a good solid reputation. I had insurance with CIA for many years but their rates are now sky high. The only thing I'm not covered on now is other militaria type items that were covered by CIA. Jim

I used NRA and CIA for years, both are Loyds of London and NRA will bargin small improvements in price. I recient found my home owners insurance covers guns at contents price. I plan to drop NRA on 9-1. The company is Safeco and they sell three levels of protection. The level that protects guns is the most expensive but still very cheap. Lists are required.

What are the rates that posters describe as "too high", "very reasonable" and whatever? I thought that the annual rate of 1 1/4% of value each year was a bit high, maybe way too high.
