One of the local gun dealers has an Italian sidelock (?) for sale. It's not a high grade gun, but it is modern (BF date code), has decent wood, cocking indicators, and a hinged front trigger. The engraving looks like it was probably rolled and perhaps hand-chased: it's a ribbon and flower pattern with no real scrolls. The only markings on it other than the proof marks (clearly Italian) and "accacio special" are the name Artarm (all one word) and a stamping on the barrel flats and the water table of what appears to be a dog's head with a bird in its mouth. There are no importer's marks I can find on the barrels or the action.
I couldn't find anything at all about it in a search of the name on Google. Do any of you recognize the name or can you tell me anything about the gunmaker?
Thanks.

Hello Rem, If you go down this listing you'll find: Art Manifattura Armi, Gardone, Vt, Brescia i-25063
armi.art@intred.it They are surely the makers of the side lock you mention. The fact that it has a hinged front trigger and is marked "acciaio speciale" (special steel) makes me think it is not as lowly a gun as you think. JMTC. Best, JC

Armi Art is Dennis Fontanna. I do not believe there is any connection with Artarm and Armi Art. Dennis was represented in the US by William Larkin & Moore and the guns are marked as such.

What you provided was incorrect. Maybe you could provide correct information. I simply supplied what I know to be correct. Get over it.

If you mean "Denis Fontana" you are right.
My mistake. Just trying to help.
