Just obtained John Krider (Philadelphia) pinfire 12 Ga on
Dougall lockfast action-has "Robertson Philadelphia" on rib and
Birmingham proofs on BBLS. "J Krider" on locks-no other markings
When was the Lockfast first used?
Thanks
Bill McPhail

Dougall's patent for "forward sliding drop down breech action (Lockfast)" was number 1128 taken out on May 7th 1860.

I have a John Krider center fire on a Dougall Lock fast action with two sets of barrels, Never seen or heard of a pinfire.
sounds like a neat gun. Has to be extremely rare.

I have seen another Krider marketed Lockfast action in centerfire. Nice gun. Krider seemed to use all sorts of European started guns in his business.

William Robertson was a Gunmaker that had a shop next door to
Krider. My reference books have him out of business @ 1860
Hard to know when gun was made as Krider copied many gun actions
-this is the only gun of his I have seen with proof marks and
they are only on the BBLS
This gun is about as mint as it can be-with "hard" vivid
case colors-if ever fired was fired very little
Thanks for the info
Bill

Bill

You may be Computer Inept, but I would trade my computer skills for your knowledge of (and "FINDING") great American Doubles--

Very best,

Have to lift the image of the 1864 tubeset & drop it on the Leopold Bernard thread.

Kind Regards,
