Does anyone have any experience with Diamond Gunsmithing?
The fact that they describe their case coloring method as the "torch Method" has me hesitant to use them.
Thanks, Pete

Les Hovencamp was the head gunsmith of Ithaca Shotguns in Ithaca NY for several decades. My experience with him has been good--all with Model 37 issues.

I have referred a number of people to them for work and parts for Lefever Nitro Specials and have gotten positive feedback. These were all mechanical issues, I don't know anything about the restoration work.

Ithaca was torch coloring guns for quite some time in later years. I sold a 4E Knick to a friend, who sent it to Ithaca for refinish and high grade restock. Both the torch colors and the restock were a mess.

From what I understand, Ithaca used cold blue and heat from a torch to brighten or restore worn colors. They were not actually using the torch alone to color the metal.

I also understand that diamond will not sell parts alone. But only install parts.

He takes calls in the afternoon. He responds to emails as well. As far as I know the only them "them" is his wife and Les. His wife logs in the guns; he does the work. Gil
