Does a V-8 Weaver use regular Weaver bases?

Also, thinking of the "Scope a 99" project: will Stith base/rings for a K-4 work with a 4x Lyman All American? Anybody have a spare set?

The V-8 used Weaver adjustable mounts which attached to standard Weaver style bases. I suppose any 1" adjustable ring set-up would work with the basic scope tube.

Some Lymans were 26mm tubes and that causes trouble with some rings. I've been lucky so far. The early Lymans had some very nice glass for their age.

Which Stith mount are you referring to? The adjustable mount with built in windage and elevation? I may be able to help you, if that's the case.

I have used Lyman All American Perma Center 4X scopes for decades on my hunting rifles and have had nothing but satisfactory performance,

xausa, I had forgotten the adjustable mounts. Will they work with a B & L Balvar 8? Or only with straight tube scopes?

The old Weaver V8 that I have has adjustable rings that attach to regular Weaver bases. The Balvar scopes need adjustable bases since they do not have any adjustments. The only Stith mounts I have had needed straight tubes 7/8's ". There may be other Stith mts.

My old Weaver V8 has a bunch of crosshairs (range finder??) but sadly turning the power ring turns the crosshairs also. Someone probably had it apart and left something out. Optics are Ok.

Xausa, did you get a chance to look for Stith mounts? Looks like hopefully I have a 303 H on the way.

The Stith mounts work more or less like the B&L mounts for non adjustable scopes, but are action specific. I'll have to check to see if any of mine will fit a Savage 99.

Will take a set of adjustable or non adjustable if I can just find a set.
