Hi, both of the above have Web pages at present, not sure if they hold the records but they may be able to help. I couldn't post the links for some reason, they were both found with Google and have contact details.

Francis Lovell now owns AG&L. He has a web site. Good luck getting the information you need. You may be better off posting your question here. A few years ago I owned a nice 1912 Grant with new barrels that I was told by the maker. When I asked for info on my gun all I was told by them is they didn't have a record of it. Francis Lovell has his own gun shop so not sure how much he is into AG&L. But he is a nice guy.

For EJ Churchill guns, just contact them through their website. They have the build books, and will provide copies of information for a nominal fee. For simple annual dating from serial numbers, refer to "The House of Churchill" by Masters.

Last time I inquired with EJ CHURCHILL, the cost for a letter on a gun was 70 pounds. That, IMO is ridiculous for a letter. I suppose I'll just continue to wonder who "PGS" was. Btw, they (Churchill gun room guys) were very courteous and very polite, if I could I would send them a coffee cake and some jam. Nice guys.

I was looking at a Heny Atkin about 2 years ago. The seller was advertising new barrels by the maker in the mid-80s. I sent an email to AG&L via their website and got a quick response. They had records on the gun and confirmed they replaced the barrels.
I didn't by the gun so I didn't request a letter or more history on the gun from AG&L.

I used the internet info for AGL (different physical location than Lovell although Lovell now owns AGL) and contacted them a few months ago hoping that someone at that location could give me some info on a Grant. I was hoping they could help because in the past the folks at Francis Lovell had been about as worthless as tits on a boar hog.
Pretty much as I dreaded the AGL contact said the Grant records were over at the Lovell location. Two international phone calls and multiple E-mails later the people working at Lovell's place ultimately didn't know squat about when a certain Grant gun was made. I actually did get my info, correctly, from British Gunmakers volume one-London, by Nigel Brown.

At one time smallbore was connected with AGL. Three years ago this past March, after he was no longer had an interest with AGL, I acquired a pre-war Atkin and contacted them and they were most helpful in providing the pedigree of the gun at no charge via email. They were in the process of photocopying the records which caused a slight delay.
