I'm not familiar with Goat Tuff, but it appears to be cyanoacrylate, or "super glue". I think that would be OK, as it will seal the end grain, but epoxy soaked into the end grain and then built up enough to conform to the waxed action would be better. Sort of like bedding a rifle. No gaps whatsoever, seals and toughens the butt stock. A bit more work, but better long term results in my experience.

I’d gently pry the crack apart going in first with a small flat bladed screw driver and then a slightly larger one starting at the inside of the lock cavity so as not to damage the outer joining surface and then remove the pin. Next I’d join the two pieces together so that I’d be assured of fit and then I’d glue them together with slow curing epoxy wrapping the glued joint with an old bicycle inner tube to clamp them and allow to cure overnight. If you’re concerned about the integrity of your repair very carefully drill and tap a small hole, starting from in the lock cavity on the other side and into the reglued joint but not through to the surface (that’s where the “carefully” part comes in). Finally, determine the depth of the hole you’ve just drilled and tapped and take an appropriately threaded SS bolt and file a notch in it that would be even with the surface when seated. Slather the SS bolt with epoxy and screw it into the hole and break it off where you’ve notched it. The repair should now hold indefinitely.

Steve

Thanks Bobby!

I agree with Steve, for the most part. The pin will actually weaken the joint a bit, but not enough to matter and if it helps you sleep at night then it's worth it.

I agree, epoxied repairs seldom if ever come apart if properly prepared. Usually, close inspection of a failed repair will reveal the failure's actually next to the repair. The SS pin is a cover-your-butt for the properly prepared part of the job.

Steve

PS from one of this boards SXS bottom feeders who invariably obtains guns needing repairs of one kind or another, you did a great repair!
