It's time to get my dad's old 25-20 winchester back up and running. The bore is completely shot to hell.
I recall someone here noting the name and contact info for a guy up in Oregon or Washington who does a great job re-lining these old lever guns.
I'd really appreciate a referral here.

Here's a thread from accurate about relining. Reline thread I also saw mention of a Randall Redman(Redman's Rifling & Reboring 189 Nichols Rd. Omak WA 98841 509-826-5512) who relines barrels. Let me know how it turns out, I have a 3 digit 1885 in 32WCF (32-20) that needs it done. Rob

I'd think it important to keep enough meat on the barrel. My Daniel Fraser was re-lined from 250 rook(.251) to 25-20 Win.(.257). The hole to be bored is much larger than the new caliber's bore size.

Seems Beinke and Beinke has dropped off the face of the gunsmithing world. No listed number, and after a few calls around the area it seems he's somehow slithered out of reach.
Redman's is the place I was thinking of. He's got a backlog of four to six months. Might just go with him and get this thing together.
Any one here know of someone who does this kind of work, does it to a high standard, and who can offer a quicker turn around time -- anywhere in the US?

Dave Casey in Cody Wyoming is a good choice for something like a this. He will be able to hide the liner so it will not disturb the rifle's appearance and he is a well regarded gunsmith. He also makes turned brass in any caliber you need and molds. See, http://www.rockymountaincartridge.com He used to be a smith for Ballard Rifle Company before going off on his own. Brent

Brent-
Now that's a good reference. I didn't know Dave was offering this service. I just got off the phone with him a moment ago, and he too has a six month back log. He operates on a known good standard too.

Last time I talked to Mark Beinke (about a year ago, I think) he had a disabling back problem. Too bad; he was a master at relines. Redid a Lo-wall Win 1885 in .38WCF for me. And it had a #1 weight barrel! If I were to do some phony aging of the muzzle, you would think it was original (until you measured the bore and realized that no real 1889-vintage .38-40 barrel was that regular in dimensions....).

You might also consider Lee Shaver. He relined my .22 low wall, and if I told you it regularly shoots in the 240s at 200 yds, you might not believe it. But it does. Lee may not be any faster than Dave though. http://www.egunsmith.com will find you Lee I think. Brent
