Rocketman, Drew, et al. - New to me SxS. I've bided my time on this gun and it finally came up for adoption! Not sure, but we think it is a Wilmart. I thought that once I was able to source the maker from some info on Google, but now I can't replicate it.

So, proof year would seem to be 1926. Second mark down on the barrel flats should be the proof house master's code, but it looks like an A E merged together which I can't reference. The name on the rib would seem to be the retailer in Paris as opposed to a maker. There is a * over an M on the barrels (clue I can't decipher) and the stamp on the standing breech/face is EM. W The letters on the action flat in the diamond are MC and both sides look like they were double struck so the blur in the picture is not all my fault!!

Links to my photobucket are in the next post down....this is the best I could do with my limited skills.

Any help reading the tracks around the watering hole would be appreciated!!

V/r
Maxey

Maxey: I'm afraid I can't decipher the marks from your images. Please chalk or grease pen the marks, and post high resolution full size close ups of everything.
I agree the lettre annale is a small case 'e'
This might be of help

I remember seeing a Guyot Bar-in-wood that looked very similar.
Maker is probably under the lockplate.

Maxey, If you are not confident about lifting the locks, take it to a pro.
It's a beautiful shotgun, and I don't want to see any chipping!

Hello Maxey,
Did I see the bbls stamped Hy Andrews Toledo Steel works Sheffield?
I have a rather nice Belgian sle with same bbls, & have seen other belgians so marked, always pretty classy guns.
When I bought mine, I sent it to Abe chaber, who stripped n cleaned it...he found the Britte Co mark under the main spring
Man , I love a nice Belgian Gun
Cheers

I am around sure that the maker of your gun is Etablissement Wilmart.
When you take the locks out you gona find the letters E.W. on the locks. Or maybe N.J. (Nicolas Jacquet) who make many locks for Liége artisans and Wilmart was also one of them.
Cheers from Belgium, Marc.
