I have a table that refers to RTL hulls. I have also seen reference to RGL hulls. Can someone tell me what these are? I just guessed the RTLs might be Remington. Thanks!

RGL = Remington Game Load...,

RGL is a term often used in 16ga reloading, since it accounts for 99% of the Remington 16ga hulls you'll encounter. Also, it is unique in it's internal capacity which is less than all the other common hulls... (Fed, Fiocchi, Win, Kent, RST, Cheddite, etc.) The RGL is often derided by some 16ga reloaders who can't appreciate that it is the ONLY hull capable of loading from 5/8 ounce all the way up to 1& 1/8 ounce WITHOUT requiring "fillers" to get good crimps.

Not sure where you're seeing "RTL" but it probably alludes to Remington Target Load, since the 12ga hulls are all interchangeable...Premier, Blue Magic, STS, even Gun Clubs.

Mike Campbell, do you have a recipe for the 5/8 oz. load?

The RTL moniker comes from a spreadsheet for low pressure 12 ga loads I got from someone in the PGCA. According to Ken Cougar's book, I found, these are an earlier version of the STS hull.

If you start with any pressure-tested recipe for 7/8 ounce shot and the DR16 wad in a Remington hull, you can safely reduce the payload as far as you like. With careful adjustments to the crimping stations, you can achieve crimps like those I get on my MEC9000G...

Unlike any other wad, the soft collapsibile legs of the DR16 allow it to adjust to a wide range of payloads without spring-loading and exerting undue upward pressure on the crimps.
There are better choices for 7/8 and 1 ounce in the Remington hull but the DR16 excels for 3/4 and less. IME, the DR16 is unsurpassed for 7/8 ounce in virtually any other hull.

I bought the ammo from Bass Pro about 2004-2006. In that same era, my local Walmarts started to carry them and I ordered 40 flats @ $32.99. I don't expect to have to re-supply. grin

I use the DR-16 in RST 16, 2 & 1/2 inch hulls and 3/4 oz 8 shot. Loads, crimps, and shoots nice on clays.
