I've looked in my Greener book for references to Brazier and the only one mentioned is in the early days making percussion locks. I have a privately published book on Staffordshire lock and gun part makers and there are no less than ten Braziers listed so it seems that it was part of a gun part making dynasty. Technically the name is still going under Joseph Brazier. What is the serial number of your gun and then I may be able to date it for you. This may be a good place to start http://www.wolverhampton-gunlocks.fslife.co.uk/Index.htm Lagopus.....

I have a hammer Jone's underlever with every part on it stamped "Joseph Brazier, Ashes". The rib and outside of the locks are engraved with the name of the country gunsmith, Thomas Johnson. So yes, Brazier not only made locks but also complete guns. It is also noteworthy that Joseph Brazier of Ashes was one of the first in England to embrace machinery capable of producing parts intended to be interchangeable, having been inspired by the success of Sam Colt's development and use of such equipment. Brazier imported from America many of the new machines but soon found English machine makers quite capable of supplying his needs.
I see no reason Greener couldn't farm out action work to someone like Brazier, especially on a gun like the Forester.

Just for reference, my 1892 Forester has a Facile Princeps action (confirmed by Graham Greener).

my forester is a typical a&d action. the earlier greener i have is a A&D action but the early looking one with large pyramid cocking levers like the original westly richards /deeley action ed gun.i thought it unusual that brazier made an action or gun for greener.MC

I have seem a gun that was built on the original Anson and Deeley patent ,to all intent a Westley Richards [ but not named as such] but stamped Brazier under the cover plate . I assume that either Brazier built guns under licence or they built guns as outworkers .
