Just put the finishing shot on the final rise of the 2015-16 Season......Just putting the notes on my Calendar log......
What a Year this has been, The likes of which I doubt seeing again in my time....Best in 28 years for Quail on the Southern Rolling Plains....
TOUGH Warm WINDY conditions this morning, but we marched thru Covey after covey.....hard to tell Opening Day from the Final Day; Birds still VERY Plentiful, Covey size excellent....
Got some Really Fine Dog work from everyone this morning, no cripples lost, had shooting on every covey found with the exception of a wild flush 60 yards in front of the pointed covey I was gunning, Second distant covey rose at the shot .....
AND as a Bonus I shot 'em very well, taking all comers.....
The Calendar Log I keep shows this was my 72nd Quail outing in a generous 119 Day Texas season.....
Hoping for adequate Spring /early Summer rainfall to take advantage of this wonderful carry over bird crop on the ranch now.

Great to hear. That is a generous season. I do hope that quail return to the south again. I remember when younger living in New Jersey, there were wild quail found in the southern part of the state. Here in PA., I remember shooting a few around Carlisle, but that was back in the 70's when there used to be many pheasants also. That was then.

What a season and A+ for effort. I work full time and I barely put that many days at work in the same period of time and I guarantee you had more fun. Gil

Good luck, Paul. OBTW, you announced your 72nd quail hunt of the season with your 72nd post on this board. Might be a good omen.
