Just bought this Trap Grade M21 gun. It came with Cody letter, serial numbers match, stock fits. Put 250 shells through it.
Went home, put safety on, removed fore arm, cleaned gun and reassembled gun but the forearm would not go on. The ejector hammers can forced back but do not catch on sears. The hammer cocking levers at the end of the action are loose and do move.
HELP!

I had the same problem, I removed the wood and cleaned the metal. It was tough to recock the ejectors but by placing it on a wood block and doing one at a time I did it. Has worked fine sense then. If it is an early model watch the reinforcement that helps hold the forend on the metal. It can be tough to put back in place. I put it in place first and tighten it last. The type that attach to the front of the iron cause no problem.

Ejector hammers on a 21 do not cock and hold like most other guns.
They cock as being applied to the barrel and action. The gun will assemble with resistance from the ejector springs and the forend will snap in place.

Be sure to position the flat forend spring in the notch in forend lug correctly and then the forend will snap back on. Bobby

Danc,
I wouldn't take anything apart just yet. Did you try assembly with the added info Bobby gave about lever tab placement?

I used my first 21 for eleven years at skeet, trap, and sporting.
Nothing went wrong.

I have had a CSMC 21 sxs for a few years and it is at CSMC now. The subject of this correspondence is a recent acquisition and it is on its way to CSMC.

Thank you all.
