Prowling around on GB I found an LC Smith Wildfowl in 10 gauge. I'm not terribly well versed in LC Smiths but I was always under the impression they only made it in 12 gauge. The gun shown does say Wildfowl Special on the rib. The seller claims it has Damascus barrels but the pictures lead me to believe otherwise. I wouldn't be likely to buy it because it's been opened up to 3.5 inch but it is a curiosity. I'd be curious to know your thoughts or any information about this gun. Thanks fellas.

Better pics from the last sale. The barrels are indeed Damascus and it's clearly marked as an Ideal

Everything is wrong about this gun. Hunter Arms never made a Longrange 10 gauge. They were only made in 12 gauge and would have either Longrange or Wildfowl stamped on the lug. Not all Longrange or Wildfowls were chambered for 3". The beavertail is not original, the original would have had the roller release to remove it. The chambers have been lengthened, a 10 gauge would have come with 2 7/8" chambers, unless stamped different on the barrel's water table.
Takes a lot of nerve for someone to stamp the barrels as being proofed for 3 1/2" magnums.

JDW,

That's why I was curious about it. I'd never heard of a Longrange Wildfowl in 10 gauge. I've long wanted an Ithaca NID 10 gauge 3.5 inch. I stumbled on to this when I was looking at 10 gauges. The last two Ithacas I found were both work overs that someone tried to passed off as the real thing. At least this guy was honest about it being opened up to 3.5 inch. I'd never fire it with 3.5 inch ammo.

Caveat empetor. I'd walk away from this Fubared Smith with my checkbook intact.

I have both 12 wildfowl and long range gun 2.75 and 3". Also have a 10 gauge 1917 ideal. And yes they typically were Damascus as mine is. This moron obviously dr this up. The long range or wildfowl was never put on the rib but on the lug. Never made in 3.5"
So people!
