the diarm [sarriugarte ?] was the better of the manufactures being a stocked to the fences, bar action model...and the ZH being a flat backed, back action model.... though they both function pretty well....I had a 12ga st silvered ZH made gun that never gave me any problems, but I had trouble getting less than 1/2 the lowest price being asked for any of the ones listed when I unloaded [sold] it.....

I think the Grulla #2 marketed by American Arms was the high end of their imports. They sent me one as a field test gun. Expect I could've bought it at a pretty good discount. Usually works that way with writers. (No, most of us don't get them free!) I thought it was nice--certainly nicer than the Derby--but I wasn't interested in buying it, even at a discounted price.

I had ordered a 28 bore from American Arms when they were going through one of their many reorganizations...When the gun arrived, it was not what I ordered but a Grulla. I attempted to get that straightened out but was told "keep it" Some time after that, as I remember I was with Scott Carlson (Choke dude) and met a person who had been with American Arms. He asked about the gun, said "I wondered who got that" and offered to buy it. He was a bit put off when he realized that almost all the finish was worn off the left side. I carried it on the dash of my truck uncased....His money was good, and I sold it...

Sometime in 1986 or 87 I came across an American Arms 12 gauge sidelock, English stock, double trigger gun. The store had taken it in on trade and they offered it to me for, if memory serves, about $500. I should have bought it in retrospect, but I'd just bought a BSS 12, and a Win Model 23 in 28 gauge.
