I would say the future looks bleak for most old pumps. Here best seller in used gun racks here is Wingmaster 12ga with Light Contour barrel and RemChokes or 20ga Wingmaster with choke tubes. The only pumps that sell better are those police-type guns with extended magazine tubes. Found a wonderful sample of 870 Magnum variety with parkerized finish, 20" heavy cyl barrel with ball bearing in barrel lug, bead sight, 3" chamber, oversize safety, Scattergun Technologies two shot extension, solid plastic follower with extra strength spring, forged extractor, stained hardwood stock oversized sling swivels with Remington marked recoil pad. To experienced combat shotgun buyer it has all the desirable features. I will have them check if it functions with 2&1/4" SG shot loads. If it does I'm going to buy it.

I am trying to figure out why anyone would need or want more than ONE of those "combat" type shotguns?

I bought a Winchester model 12 Duck gun in about 98% condition at an auction recently. Gave $575. I'm happy with the deal I got and I plan to shoot the heck out of it

It is hard to find that variant in top shape. LGS has late 50s sample (based on size and shape of for end) in very good original condition for $699. Regular shooting isn't going to damage that 9 pounder.

Does it have the std straight action slide bar? From 1950 to 1953, the 3" Mags had a "dog-leg" shaped action bar, a Fubared design. See the Madis book for more details on this, page 102. Great gun, I have 2 3" Mag m12's- one mfg. in 1939, one in 1948- both 30" Full, the 1939 one has a solid rib.

RWTF: Yes, std straight action slide bar. 30" full. No rib. (No way I'd have gotten it for $575 if it had a rib!). I have two cases of Rio bismuth I'm itching to burn up. But, with temps in the 70s here in the Midwest, not too many ducks yet.

Same here in West Central MI- few local geese, due to crops and golf courses-but no weather change to bring down flight birds from Canada yet. Good luck when nyou do get some birds in your area, your grandson can shoot the m12 in later on years, they were designed and built to last forever and a day.

DU guns, Wild Turkey Fed. guns carry no premium in my mind. Nothing manufactured to be a collector's item ever is...Geo I for one am sure glad that they get kicked to the curb, especially if they have been shot. I've managed to pick up a few over time that I couldn't have bought the stock blank for what I have paid for the gun. Some of the nicest wood in the last 40 years came on these guns. Thank you DU! I have enjoyed the benefit of a DU banquet gun. Mine, a 20 ga. Beretta 686 O/U, was a raffle item and the winner/seller was willing to part with it for the low end of retail of what a used 686 was selling for at the time. I upgraded the wood and had a two-trigger conversion done, both by Cole. Gil
