It's a 12 and 20 world here in McKean County. Didn't think know about that when packing. Live and learn.

You're lucky just to have an internet connection there Lloyd. The cell phone coverage maps all show a big dead zone in that area. And if you get a chance and a clear night, you should take the short drive to Cherry Springs State Park in neighboring Potter County. Its been named the best place on Earth (yep, the whole planet) for stargazing by the Travel Channel and has been designated a Gold Level Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association.

A friend who has a camp east of Smethport in McKean County tells me he did well on grouse this fall. I'm planning to take a trip there for some grouse hunting after flintlock deer season ends. I'll remember to bring plenty of 16 ga. shells to feed the Lefever.

I was just there over Thanksgiving hunting off of Rt. 146 (Clermont Rd) a little east of Hazel Hurst. I was going to take my 16 gauge Ithaca but went with my Model 12 in 12 gauge I picked up a few years back in case I ran into any waterfowl.

On the way back I stopped by to see the Kinzua Bridge, or should I say what's left of it. Next time I'm going to hunt that area. Maybe next Thanksgiving.

That's 146 and my truck sitting there. I hunted on the other side of the road from that cabin. We use to own that cabin.

There ain't many folks in that part of Pennsyl-Tucky smile

If you have access to phone or internet, order whatever and Cabelas will ship whatever you want right to your door.

While not a discount cost situation I have found mail order ammo for 16 gauge and mail order reloading components is the way to go.

If you are going to buy on line, Academy's AA28 for 8.99 is real tough to beat.Buy enough and freight is free.

I'm sure Lloyd knows that already, but what he said was, he didn't pack enough ammunition for the trip to Pennsylvania thinking he could buy some here.

Once he drove by Erie, there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell of him finding 28 gauge.
