Yes, you are right . this is something between hammer and hammerless.
I am collecting guns more than 20 years, and I have seen such gun in a first time. If you have seen such system before ( not Fukert from Weipert), show me and other members, please.

These guns pop up at auctions from time to time. Holts had one last year. I don't collect pictures of guns but if I run across something I'll post it or a link.

The proofs definitely appear to be Birmingham. My memory may not be right but I was thinking the chamber mark, IE, 12/C was not used until 1887. At the same time the "Tween" bore sizes were added as in 13/1 so while this one was proofed as a 13 it could actually have been a bit larger, just not enough to accept a 12.gauge plug gage.

Raimey, I am looking at the interior of the lock. Is there an interior hammer in that lock you picture ? Is the firing pin on the interior ?

If the striker is external, maybe the initials inside the lockplate are Bentley's . Was it David Bentley ?
