Does anyone know a good gunsmith in either the Tucson or Phoenix area (preferably Tucson) that can open a choke for a reasonable price? Possibly install a recoil pad as well.

Hey there Steve, you might try Diamondback Police Supply, they now have a full time gunsmith. Also there is Murphy's Guns, and Lawson's Gunsmithing. Those are the only ones I can think of off hand although there are others.

In Phoenix I have heard good things about Stephan Waltz 623-810-3700 or Brett Hall 602-577-3814 Brett has a Website (BHC)
I can do the recoil pad if you want. Dale Medders 480-208-3854
I do pad jobs while you wait if desired.

Thanks for the gunsmith referral's! There's a gun show this weekend on Tucson's south side and I'll be checking out the Tucson area shops after I leave the show.

Steve: There is sometimes a 'smith who does trigger jobs and chokes--shows up at the major trap/skeet shoots at the club on Ajo, on Tucson's west side. You might call out there to check on the schedule. Gil

Steve no one I trust to do choke work in Tucson. All of my barrels go to Dean Harris. Joe Reed at Lawsons does good pad work. Brian and Patrick Murry at Murphys Gun shop do great pads and choke work but they are not taking in any work currently. As Dale mentioned he does pads in Mesa. Dale has done several pads for me with excellent results.
