It's a useful shell to have in your bag. I use a 6 box carrier . Load it with 5 boxes of my standard shell one box of spreaders. Don't think I have ever used 25 spreaders on a 100 shot course, but they are there if I need them.

It is indeed a useful tool. As doverham pointed out in a previous thread, they do not give quite the maximum "spread" that you can get with a hand load and the Polywad post/disc arrangement, but they are relatively inexpensive and seem to be very consistent to me. Again, of importance to me is the recoil ...... not how little or how much, but the fact that they feel almost identical to my regular loads. I could match that with a hand load, but it would take some time and experimentation.

Why is that important to me? So much of this game is mental. I have to remain in a completely relaxed state of mind to shoot my best, and keep my thoughts as free of extraneous things as possible. That's the exact reason I shoot two modified chokes, and don't use screw-ins so that I'm not tempted to change chokes for different presentations. I see I've got a very close rabbit, or bird, maybe it's a windy day and the close bird is taking unexpected nose dives ....... I drop the spreader in the appropriate barrel, and forget about it. Quick and easy. If it is the first bird, the recoil is exactly the same as my other shells and my mind is not drawn to that for a split second when I should be picking up the other bird with my eyes and then moving the gun to intercept it.

Am I anal about it? Probably! But, it's working!! grin

Actually I was bumped back to AA a couple years ago for not getting enough punches. I kinda lost interest in trying to beat the best in the game in M class. I'm much more competitive in AA, and Super Vet. This fundraiser used Lewis Class bracketing and called Lewis 1 "Master".

Thanks, SRH

Hey Stan - I literally just dropped in for the first time in a long time and saw your post. Thanks for the shout-out, I am glad to have contributed something useful here.

Life has distracted me away from double guns for awhile, unfortunately and I miss spending time here with y'all. Hope you are well and have lotsa birds in the freezer from a successful season. Cheers, Ham

Type 3 Perazzi guns can be identified by the forearm attachment to the iron. The type 4 has a screw on either side of the iron which tighten the forearm against the iron while the type 3 does not. I am sure that there is a difference in the the barrel lug for for forearm attachment as well.

If some one would post a photo for me I have an image from the net that makes the difference very clear.
