A couple of people have asked for a close up picture of the receiver.

Case colors sure seem like the way to go.

Have you shot it yet?

I like it! Already changed mine to colors.

Dick, does the photo accurately show a narrow, irregular darker band of finish where the stock head meets the frame?

I have not shot it yet.
I have been breaking in my 1972 Browning Superposed Pigeon Super Light Weight 12 gauge that I recently acquired in unfired condition. It's not unfired anymore. With Skt/Skt chokes, it has made a dandy dove gun. My son has a field grade 1968 Super Light Weight that I got him and we both enjoy these guns. They each weigh 6# 8oz.
The band is there on the wood, whether finish or wood or whatever, I really can't tell. To tell the truth, it wasn't until I saw the picture that I realized it was there.-Dick

Looks like lacquer overrun from the case color.
If that's what it is(and not some photo aberation),that's sloppy work.

Agreed. The frame should have been laquered off the wood.

I'm one of those asking for a close up. Thank you so much for supplying one! Very nice, btw!

As for the case color laquer - wouldn't (perhaps "shouldn't") that be applied before the stock and receiver are assembled? Though I must agree, that seems very likely to be the culprit...

Nice looking gun but I can't believe that they would let it out of the shop with lacquer overrun like that. Gotta be something else. Gotta be.

I've quit having actions lacquered. I think the colors need to be worn down a bit - at least that's my taste and the lacquering makes most coloring look too bright.

The fitting of the stock to the receiver is remincent of the old 1885 Winchester. That is a notoriously hard stock to fit and also not the strongest for heavy recoiling rifles. Any chance that these guns come with a through-bolt as standard or optional equipment?

I notethat they gave you the reduced coverage on the balls of the action. They fixed mine but it would be tough on a case colored action.

They are through-bolt stocks.
