Sources of pure talc seem to be drying up. Talc is the subject of a current lawsuit asserting that it causes cancer in women. Talc, in an unscented form, used to be available as an inexpensive body powder. Now, I can't seem to find it anymore. I've had to go to a more expensive product for billiards. Even so, my local billiard shop can't seem to order it anymore, and now there are only a few sources found on EBay. You might consider buying some, while it's still available.

Ken

You want talc, Ken? Here you go. I buy this in 5 gallon buckets every spring to pour over my seed in my planters to make everything flow smoothly, and prevent buildup of seed treatment coatings on the seed discs. Pure talc.

Seriously, I have a piece of a bucket leftover from last spring if you need some. P.M. me with your info and I'll send you all you need.

Stan is exactly correct. Any John Deere dealer that sells or services vacuum style planters has it by the buckets full. As a recently retired Deere Dealer I'm pretty sure they still have and use it. We carried it by the pallets full. Just don't let them sell you the talc/graphite blend. They should have smaller containers then 5 g, I think it's 2 1/2 gallon.

This Talcum Powder cancer scare lifted its head here some twenty five years ago, and it all emanated from some flawed research done but I cant remember where. The final result was the link was not probable and tenuous at best. I am sure you know that court cases that are not cut and dried can cost litigants an arm and a leg here especially if it went to the High court. So the news media hype on Talcum powder fizzled out, so Talc is freely available here.
May be it is far easier to go to court on such research on your side of the pond than here?

Yeah, I'm afraid it is. Many suits are settled rather than go through the litigation process. This also includes libel lawsuits, which are much more difficult to pursue over here than in England. There are no "loser pays" provisions, so there are significant incentives for lawyers to pursue cases. Tort Reform has long been an issue, but nothing significant has happened on it yet.
