Does any one have a recipe to share for a low pressure 3.5in 12g bismuth paper load?

Hodgdon has one listed o their site for 2 3/4 cheditte hulls that i have loaded into 2 1/2 shells

7200 psi - about the lowest i have found

with 1 1/4oz at 1350 - there is some recoil

Are you sure you want to load 3.5" paper? You can cut your hulls down to 2.75" and use them in the longer chamber, there's plenty of info on 2.75" low pressure loads out there. Does your Vintage 12ga have a 3.5" chamber? If so, was it altered? I'm slightly confused....

Regards

Ken

Subject line reads 2.5; text reads 3.5.
I assume you mean 2.5 and 3.5 is a typo.

Bismuth is close enough in density to lead that I have found you can use lead data. You cannot use lead bushings without weigh checking which one(s) to use. You may need just a bit more wad pressure for a perfect crimp.

Does anyone have a more detailed recipe? For example only. Please do not use this recipe as I modified it an don't know what I'm doing.

Federal Paper hull trimmed to 2.5in
Federal 209A primer
23.0 grains english units
REM. RP12 fiber wad
1 oz. Bismuth shot #6
gives 1201 fps @ 10,600 psi

I would like to use the federal gold medal paper hulls.

English units of what?

and i would not consider 10,600 low pressure except if compared to a proof load

For what it's worth, I've been using AA hulls in my 2.5" English guns. My .79" wide chamber gauge goes in to almost 3", but a true .80" gauge is only 2.5". Also, after measuring a few dozen AA hulls, they all were a good bit shorter than 2.75" long open. I don't recall their measurments, but they are shorter than the STS and Federal hulls I've measure.

Using 7625, there are sub 4000 psi lead loads, and 700-x and 800-X have sub 6000 psi loads up to 1 1/8 oz. Now these are lead, bismuth would be a bit higher. And these are not paper, but might be an idea
