Hello All:

I'm considering sending a newer Merkel 20 ga. SXS to their stated service center with Steyr Arms in Bessemer, AL.

Does anybody here have any experience with or opinions about their work? I'm thinking quality, turn-around time, and communications?

I'm needing in particular a disturbingly light front trigger pull fixed.

Thanks,
GG

GG,
I've had Herbert at Merkel do some trigger work for me and was very pleased. He has been there for a long time and is the Merkel specific gunsmith. There were some staff changes when GSI transitioned to Styer Arms, But I believe Einar Hoff and Herbert are still there. I've enjoyed a good relationship with the staff.

I too have had a Merkel of mine go in for some repairs on two occasions. Worked with Herbert. Work was excellent, and turnaround outstanding. Prices were very reasonable too.

I'd have no qualms about recommending him for work on Merkels.

Good luck,

Tom
