I'm afraid I have been unable to discover much information on my gun, other than it has Birmingham black powder proof marks (it was never nitro proofed or re-proofed) and that it has been in my wife's family in North Dakota since the late 1800's (it came to me as part of an inheritance).

Judging from the wedge forearm, back acting locks and other small details it appears to belong to the early years of breech-loading shotguns (late 1860's to mid 1870's, perhaps, although that's just a guess). Just a basic working gun that a farmer could afford, a game getter and varmint killer.
