Seriously What has happened over the past 10 years in the market for a standard grade 12 gauge Model 21 M/F. This one sold for $2750 in June 2016 What was the price 10 years ago? What is the price now? Thank you   Top:  Top

I looked at one in 1982 or 1983, a standard 12 gauge for $850.00.

About 10 years ago early Model 21 gun with DTs and old style "canoe paddle-style" butt stock in very good original shape would sell in $2500 to $3000 range. Not sure what gun like that would bring today. Honestly I have not seen prices for typical pre-Custom shop era SST field grade guns move for a lot more cash in last 10 years. Dealers are asking a bit more, but the guns seem to linger on their web sites w/o being sold. This is one of the competitors with London address..... This is just one example with many more out there. The competition for buyers is very, very fierce.

At one of the first Vintage Cups at Pintail Pointe (2007 or 2008) I saw an early double trigger plain extractor Model 21 go for $900.

I paid a little more than that a few years ago for mine, which is almost identical to the one posted. I was happy with the price.

A while back, I bought one in a Virginia retail store for $1100. Ten or twenty years later I bought a great mint example for $3000 from a private seller. I was happy with both.

The gun in the pics has better wood than similar Model 21 guns of that particular time. If all original as it appears to be I would want at least $3500 and closer to $4000 the better. I don't know what the future brings for guns like this. I remember in early 90s they were asking about $2500 yo $3000 for 3" Duck guns in very good original condition. At some point in time they doubled or almost doubled in value and don't seem to be appreciating much more. It is a tough sell now because there are mounds of very good doubles coming to market now and that isn't going to change for near future.
Sadly even though such gun can last grandchildren's lifetime if given some care the way things are going those poor kids will be living in "forests of polymer plastic".

I did pay about $2,750 in June $2,600. I took a chance on fuzzy pictures because the seller was an FFL taking credit card payment with a liberal return policy.
From the posts above it seems that the market for these has been and is expected to remain flat.
