The front trigger is the barrel release. middle trigger fires right barrel and back trigger fires left.

I have been in gun repair and restoration 48 1/2 years and this shotgun blew my mind and making some of the parts was "fun and challenging. But am ready to test fire.

Yes, the front trigger opens the action which slides forward on dovetail rail.

I just played with one yesterday. Very interesting gun and very high quality. The owner told me it was a 4 shot repeater. Both barrels are loaded and then 2 more cartridges are loaded below the barrels.
After firing you pull the front trigger, pull the barrels forward ejecting the empties and then pull back to load the next two. It has a top lever but we believe it is a cocking mechanism.

You have the 1892 model with top lever. I have the 1898 model, only thing on top is safety button. I have fired this one but it will not cock hammers or lift shells from magazine. On yours when you pull barrels forward it works the rack gear, the one I have does not. Have you taken the side plates off? email me a pic if you can at edsguns@bellsouth.net.
