I recently bought a used Liberty hammer double. Unfortunately it had failure to fire 50% of the time with either barrel. I took the firing pins out and they look new and clean. I took locks out to find the hammer V springs had be "Dremeled" on.

It is made in Turkey and marked Akkar. It is the same as the Huglu shotgun now imported by CZ-USA.

Numerich lists the springs but out of stock. We're trying to get some ordered through CZ-USA but they are not responding.

Does anyone have another source for the hammer V springs I need?

Thanks,

Thanks,

But I'm looking for a factory replacement that will drop in. Also, a little closer to home.

Numrich/Gun Parts is out of stock. We're not getting any positive reply from CZ-USA.

Wish I could offer some help, but unfortunately the only help I can give is a "shade tree fix". I once owned an original Powell 16 ga. m/l S x S. The right lock mainspring was too weak to bust a cap. I couldn't find a replacement, and didn't know how to make one at the time, so I cut a piece of wood off of a wooden clothes pin, off the end of one of the "levers". I wedged it in the "V" of the spring tightly. It increased the strength and hammer fall velocity by more than enough to make it fire reliably, 100% of the time. I think I eventually found one close enough to replace it, with some redesigning, but that wedge worked for years, and never came out of place.

Not what you need to hear, I know, but maybe worth remembering in the future.

I repair old guns - especially hammer doubles - and have to make or repair or substitute parts because the guns are old and no replacement parts are available. And the few you find are in worse shape than the ones you want to replace.

But this gun is still in production and distributed by various vendors for years. I shouldn't have to make, substitute or shade tree repair springs for this gun. There has to be a source out there (besides Numrich/ Gun Parts or CZ-USA)

Yes, Mary called twice on Friday and then exchanged email giving them information that apparently they couldn't take down over the phone. We got no feedback. No replay if they had the parts or price or any additional information.

This morning Mary called back and after conversations with long pauses, she was told that they were in the process of sending out the parts. So hopefully in a few days I'll have the parts.

The order process took us off guard. (We're accustomed to getting an invoce by email and tracking number, expected delivery date, etc.)

Just miscommunication.
