in selling my greener hammergun, one of the interested parties had the serial # upside down.

Can this , or any on imgur, pic be made to show directly in my post , or must it be by link only?
cheers

I have no idea what you are doing wrong, but, I know how to fix it:

Good luck with the sale.

Must be a Frenched sn. the 6 and the 9 are "inter-change-able" numerals- I guess if you have the SN posted incorrectly, that could cause a problem if the BATFE gruppen senses that- hate to see a fella loose out for a minor technicality though! Le Reynard

bugger, lost the knack & the pic again...Could someone help ingrain my brain????...is it link, or image on the post end here?..what do I have to copy from imgur end?
I will be eternally grateful if someone can get it in my head!
Thick as a brick!

Foxy, its an old gun..1902 , & the 50986 is correct for that date, my buyer had it upside down, indeed my pics might have been upside down...i never thought of a problem. So he reads 9860 & a badly stamped 5 as a nine , & comes up with 98609, which puts it way after 1970, 0r when greener was sold to Scott...they folded...a little late for a Henry Jones under-lever hammer gun, eh?

I understand-- numbers can be scrambled, inverted, etc. Or, in one case of looking for complete SN-- sometimes the front receiver ring area where the SN is stamped, can be partially obscured by a scope base--

The BATFE, IMO, is not usually tolerant of "clerical errors"--IMO, they tend to operate on the "You are guilty"-- because we think you are. In my neck of the woods, two smaller sporting goods shops lost their FFL due to "improper records keeping" on consigned guns-- murky waters, indeed..

Foxy.. we have it sorted out.... we both agree on the number as the greener Elephant mark is next to the serial #, & elephant is the right way up with the 50986.
But I do have a nice 1926,or is it 1929 (small lower case "e" for year code, I 've lost my list) Belgian SLE that came to me from the seller as # 686, but on further inspection, my receiving FFL caught it, the # was most likely 989, as the top hoop on the 8 was smaller than the bottom hoop, making it 989
The devil is in the fine print foxy...hope you are well,
cheers

To post pics from Imgur.

Once you've loaded the pic, click on it, you'll be taken to a new page with a larger version of your pic and a menu on the right hand side.

At the bottom of the menu, click on 'Medium Thumbnail' or 'Large Thumbnail', you'll see your selection highlighted.

Click on 'Copy BBCode' on the menu.

Come back here, right click, and then click paste.

You should then have the BBCode pasted into your post here on DGS. You can preview your post to double check, should see the pic.
