I hope this is not off topic, but I have a Kimber of Oregon early Model 84 Super America. It is not the current Kimber America. It has a 3 position M70 style safety that will not go on safe when the bolt is closed. The bolt has a screw head in the rear of the cocking piece that looks like it might be used to remove the firing pin.
Does anyone know how to disassemble the bolt and remove the bolt shroud? Thanks.

Most Model 70 type rifles you move the salety to the second (rear) position and unscrew the bolt shroud. This should allow you to remove the firing pin.

Unfortunately doesn't work that way with this one.

Will it go on half safe? If it won't take the bolt out of the rifle & grab the cocking pc. in a vice & pull back on the bolt loading the firing pin spring. This will allow you to engage the safety to half safe & disassemble it. The safety has to be adjusted.

Thanks. Yes, it will go on half safe if the bolt is opened, but not when bolt is closed. However, on half safe, disassembly is not as simple as unscrewing the bolt shroud. Some other process is required and I can't find any info.
