Oh death, where is your sting? Not to distract from the religious posts . . . but I recall reading that statement in a quote from W.C. Fields: "To die in a drunken stupor . . . oh death, where is thy sting?"

I recall reading that statement in a quote from W.C. Fields:
"To die in a drunken stupor . . . oh death, where is thy sting?" Never heard that he made that statement. That's a very sad thing to be remembered by. SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Pretty typical of W.C. He was an irreverent fellow. Made his living that way, as a comedian.

On his tombstone-- William Claude Dunkerfield-- "I'd rather be here than in Philadelphia"-- My favorite of all time comedians, after him, Jack Benny-- "never give a sucker an even break"-- juggler, straight pool shooter, card shark- except for the juggling, Fields reminded me of a late great uncle--who served with Patton as a Calvary Lt. under "Black Jack" Pershing's command in the search for bandito Pancho Villa, and later in WW1--RWTF
"The field is the touchstone of the man"..
