Trigger time and running a chain saw are two of my favorite forms of therapy. It's the last weekend for turkey here, and even though the birds appear to have left the property when I was there opening weekend, I loaded up the thrower and two long guns and headed West. Neither saw nor heard any turkey, so spent a lot of time working on my shotgunning, identifying and rectifying some deeply ingrained bad habits. Shot pretty well.

Beautiful wildflowers, been lots of rain lately

Also tried out the recently acquired Beretta- appears to have been an unfired drill piece: some pretty good dings in the stock and a butt pad that looks like it has been set smartly down on the parade ground more than once, but overall excellent metal/mechanical. Once it was sited in, rang the metal plates at 200 and 300 yds consistently from the bench yesterday, then rang the 14" square metal plate at 200 off hand. A sling will help.

First trip out to the property without Cocoa- lots of firsts this last week.
A whole new reality to digest.

Mike

Mike,
Sounds like great therapy, Cocoa must have been with you in heart and spirit.

Looks like a great way to distract the mind. Sounds like the Berretta shoots pretty darn well too. Nothing wrong with your off hand shooting it seems.

When did you deeply ingrain bad shooting habits? I suspect I know who instructed your shooting style, no bad habits from him. Glad you were able to get out, and went prepared!

Kirk,

Despite the best efforts of my mentors, my shooting has been average at best. The Lincoln has been invaluable in working on old habits and giving me the opportunity to work on particular presentations that have consistently given me trouble.

BTW, Voss and his bride are here with me in Texas as I type- offering support unrelated to shooting.

Mike, you need to get around to checkering the stock on that Beretta! smile

Seriously, sounds like good therapy to me. In my case, my wife "graduating" from chemo and radiation, along with successful surgery on my R eye, has made shooting a lot more fun again.

That's good news, Larry. Hard to do much if you or a loved one are fighting health issues.

Mike, that sounds like just what the Doctor ordered. I don't have to tell you to have a good time, it's baked right in, right there.

Larry, it's good to hear you've gotten past a couple of potentially bad situations!

Thanks, guys. Now if it would rain less so I can shoot more and start thinking about fishing . . .
