What liquid do you use in the barrels while shooting clays?

Only thing I have ever used is "moose milk" ......... a 50/50 mixture of water soluble cutting oil (such as Keycut) and water. Works great for soaking the cushion wads when shooting, say, a round of black powder percussion skeet. http://www.startech-eg.com/downloads/lubricants_brands/keycut700-Non-stainingCuttingOil.pdf SRH

Black powder cartridge guns
Windex and paper toweling with rod and nylon brush to make the bore cleaner for chambering and use.
Shoot one station first and then the next station last, this will give you time to clean the barrels. Maximum shot total is 9 between cleanings.
Also keeps the barrels cooler.

I tried the spraying different shit down the bore after a few shots all I noticed was it made a nasty mess.
I usually bought pre-lubed wads from Circle Fly...when I didn't have them I lightly pre-lubed dry wads with John Deere fluid film out of the pump spay can.
Load and shoot until your hearts content.
Used to shoot two rounds of skeet with 12 gauge cartridge guns every Wednesday with no problems....fact is it was no dirtier with two rounds than it was with one.

For muzzle loaders (no chokes of course), Muzzleloadingforum is high on the "skychief load" which seems to let you hit targets out to 50 yards...I certainly did it using the load:
-- powder -- 1/8" card -- shot (equal volume to powder) -- 1 overshot card -- 3/8" Fiber wad rolled in olive oil.
I suggested substituting Canola oil or something because olive oil goes rancid about 380 degrees F in cooking...the opinion was - "stick to olive oil." One user said it can get messy so carry a rag. But it sort of makes sense and certainly works.
I'm thinking with early Damascus (mine is 1847), before petroleum products came along, a natural non-oil-based lubricant might work well....it does. I'm also trying to limit to 1 oz shot in my 170 year old 16 bore barrels = 70 grains of Ffg powder. But it seems so solid...might go up a bit as time goes on.

And Harry, if you're thinking of shooting your J.C. Reilly 7869, it's worth it!! What a hoot! (Or, if you're thinking of selling that gun, please let me know). (Dang it - I put you and Terry in contact over that gun!!!). Gene

Here we go again with the O'Reilly crap.... I suggested substituting Canola oil or something because olive oil goes rancid about 380 degrees F in cooking...the opinion was - "stick to olive oil." One user said it can get messy so carry a rag.
Try a dOse of Castor oil. ErgO44 how many times have you shot blackpowder once...twice ? Better stick to the the cOOking forums.

Never heard of using Fluid Film for wad lube. Might try that someday. Just to be precise, tho', John Deere doesn't make that. They sell it in their dealerships, but it is a stand alone brand that can also be purchased elsewhere. https://jdparts.deere.com/partsmkt/document/english/pmac/5454_fb_SyntheticLubricants.htm SRH

What sort of wad lube is recommended for BP cartridge guns? Do you lube hard wads the same as soft?
Thanks.

Wonder Lube or Crisco is great for the fiber wad. I do not recommend lubing the hard card wads. They keep the lube from contaminating the powder.
