Grade 2- has the early "snail titties" cocking pins and DT. Thinking about doing a "strip and clean" on the action- any tips or things to watch out for-- Years ago, I had a Flues field grade 20-- no problem with dis-assembly- do not have that gun today- RWTF

I had to make a tool to remove the spanner nuts that hold the hammer assemblies together but other than that it is pretty straight forward.

I started with finding a nut driver with the inside dimensions being large enough to allow the hammer strut to just fit inside and than had to reduce the outer dimension to just fit inside the hammer strut channel and then lastly filed the end of the driver to have two nibs to go into the strut nut slots.

Have used it to disassemble 3 NIDs so far.

How about posting a photo of this unique tool "In use"--Sounds to me like you might be on the same track as the gent who develop the cocking tool for the L.C. Smith. I'm more interesting in getting the step by step details, so that the buttstock can be removed and the action cleaned. I'm just curious as if the dis-assembly steps for a NID Ithaca are similar to that of either a Parker or a A.H. Fox--Thanks. RWTF

Just like the other American SxS only easier. Ithaca's best design. just be careful of the hold open spring when you remove the floorplate.
