I'm considering entering a bid for a percussion shotgun (c.1840) in a Canadian
auction. Does anyone have experience importing such an item?

Having used Borderview in the past numerous times, as well as some other services, I would only use Borderview in the future. Can be very slow but are careful with the gun. Tiny lettering in discreet location of the legally obligated engraving of importer. Roughly $300 plus all shipping plus a small percentage of the value. Discounts for multiple guns.

All true but I will add the above gun being percussion would not require the markings that a modern firearm requires.

Heaven forbid folks with experience answer the OP's question.

Much better to see your mindless mudslinging.

Carry on......

Seller used Borderview to ship me a Fox. It took about six months and I cannot find the import mark on it. I don't know what the rate was because seller took care of it...Geo

Any time Steve. Glad to have been of help although I did forget about the antique status. Not a thing up here.

I would give Jason Peck a call. He seems to be bringing shotguns in from Canada routinely and he makes it sound easy.
